Can Chiropractic Help Me?

If you ask that question of any individual that has been to a chiropractor, you will almost assuredly get a resounding "yes." A chiropractor cannot help anyone that does not seek help. However, if you can rely upon those who have used chiropractic treatment, you would have to be impressed by the overwhelmingly positive feedback about the results they received.

Chiropractic operates on the principle that when the skeletal system is correctly aligned and the nervous system is functioning properly, the body can heal itself. A doctor of chiropractic adjusts or manipulates the vertebrae so that these bones of the spine are correctly articulated. This results in the reduction or elimination of the disrupted nerve transmission which can cause pain in the neck and back as well as illnesses which may be manifested in other areas of the body.

How Many Treatments Will It Take?

The answer to this question is dependent upon several factors. The most significant would be:

  • Severity and nature of the injury or condition
  • Length of time the injury has been neglected
  • Age and overall physical health of the patient
  • Emotional and psychological health of the patient

Obviously, the only way to determine how many and what type of treatments may be required is to see a chiropractor for an examination and consultation. Unfortunately, the injury or condition will not get better by postponing treatment and continued neglect of the conditon.

Do I Have To Keep Coming Back For Treatments?

No, you are not required to keep coming back for treatments by a chiropractor any more than you are required to see a doctor or dentist again, if all of your health or dental issues have not been resolved after the first visit. However, sound judgment and common sense may dictate otherwise.

After individuals reach a certain age or experience a serious health issue, they are strongly encouraged by the entire medical community to return for regular periodic checkups. Likewise, dentists encourage everyone to come in for regular preventive checkups or cleaning. Chiropractic care also offers the best success when the patient is willing to maintain their wellness rather than allow managed injuries or health challenges to degenerate or relapse into a previous state.

Are Chiropractic Treatments Safe?

Yes-categorically, unequivocally, and undeniably. Chiropractic treatment is non-invasive and does not employ drugs. Those two factors alone eliminate many of the risks involved in treating injuries and various health challenges.

Further proof can be found by the relatively low malpractice insurance rates that chiropractors pay as compared to the malpractice insurance rates of medical doctors - OB/Gyn, Surgeons, Internists, and Family Practice.

Most patients experience varying degrees of relief (pain reduction) immediately or soon after receiving treatment. Patients with more severe injuries may experience some accompanying soreness but it is usually short in duration and minimal when measured against the overall benefits received from chiropractic treatment.
